I remember collecting baseball cards with my dad. We spent a fair amount of time going to baseball card shops and shows. We knew our way from one store to another. We spent a fair amount of money as well. We got into football cards, hockey cards, and basketball cards. My dad was known for collecting at the school he taught, and some of his students told him about a woman who was selling her collection. One of the cards we got from her was a 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie card. That card sent my dad on a journey that led to a new water heater for the house. On this week’s podcast, “The Holy Grail of Basketball Cards” I’ll share that story in detail, and how that story relates to why I am BeLED.

Not many knew that the Michael Jordan rookie card was worth a lot of money. Oftentimes we go about our lives now knowing what value we have. Jesus says in his Word that we have a lot of value. Our value comes from the Lord. When we base our value according to the world, we will find ourselves feeling pretty low. We must go to God’s Word. We must allow others to speak into our lives.

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

My dad and I rejoiced when we found the MJ card. The Lord has saved us, and he rejoices when we are found. I pray that this week’s podcast brings encouragement to you, as you think about your value and your worth, according to God’s Word.
