We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.” For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.

• Paul (Romans 15:1-7) •

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

• Paul (Ephesians 3:14-19) •

God is ever-present. He is waiting to talk to you, wanting you to experience who He is. He is strengthening you with the power of His Holy Spirit living in you. God is always with you.

God remains the same, but He has created us to be unique. Each of us has uniquely experienced God. Our relationships with Him contain nuances of our personalities, our strengths, and the gifts He has given us.

Bring your experiences and ways you have found to draw near to God to the BeLED FLC. Share with others and learn from one another the ways God talks to us, walks beside us, and dwells within us.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

• Jesus (Matthew 5:14-16) •

Everyone who follows Jesus is entrusted with His Light. We are all Light Entrusted Disciples. There is nothing special about us except that we have a relationship with God and the true Light dwells within us, working through us.

Jesus commands us to be light to the world, shining before others. The impact of a light is dependent on its strength and intensity. The city on the hill that cannot be hidden is made up of many individual lights shining together. When we try to shine alone, we can be tempted to believe that our light is too weak to make a difference. This is because we are designed to work together.

Light Entrusted Disciples shine brightest when we are in a community. The BeLED FLC desires to support the growth and strengthening of your local community. We cannot provide the real relationships with others that God desires for you as you are living out your life for Him. We can provide support to help you build those relationships where you are at.

[Jesus asked], “Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”

• Story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:36-37) •

So God created man in his own image,
    in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

• Story of Creation (Genesis 1:27) •

God created all people in His image. It is sin that causes us to stray from God and His will for us. We all started out dead in our sins and apart from God. This includes the nicest person in history and the most sinister person in history. They are all created in the image of God and He desires them to come to know Him.

As children of God, we are called to reach out and love our neighbors, those created in God’s image. We are to show them mercy even as they might reject us, curse at us, troll us, or otherwise dismiss us.

The BeLED FLC can help you learn ways to reach out to those around you. It can offer insight that helps you keep your focus on who God says you are, not who others say you are. The community of other Light Entrusted Disciples, can encourage you and help you build endurance for the journey ahead.
